Youth As Resources (YAR) is committed to supporting programs and initiatives that foster youth development in a community context.
General YAR Information
Youth As Resources is a community based program that provides small grants for youth-lead groups to assist them in p roviding community service projects in Riley County.YAR partners with funding organizations in the area, who provide funds to the YAR program to be distributed at the discretion of the YAR Advisory Board.
The YAR Process
The YAR process involves 5 basic steps:
1. Completing the application, action plan, & itemized budget
2. Electronically submitting the three documents mentioned above to the YAR Coordinator
3. Presenting a brief description of the proposed project to the YAR Advisory Board
4. Performing the duties outlined for the project to be completed (if funding is granted)
5. Completing after action reports once the project is completed
YAR and Pawnee Mental Health Services
YAR is essentially a combination of multiple existing programs within Pawnee Mental Health Services,
including the "Prevention, Treatment & Recovery Services" as well as "Community Based Services" programs.
Additionally, YAR's finances are separated from program specific budgets, with its own "account" within PMHS.
Essentially, YAR is a community program, which is offered through PMHS. The YAR Coordinator is a PMHS employee and the YAR
Advisory Board meetings are traditionally held in PMHS buildings.

Interested in Serving on the YAR Advisory Board
The YAR Advisory Board is composed of both youth and adults who must live in, work in, or attend school anywhere in Riley County. The board meets on a monthly basis to discuss and review potential projects, as well as to oversee the general operation of Youth As Resources. The board seeks to be represented by a wide variety of populations within the county. Youth must be within the ages of 12-18 to be considered, while adult board members must be at least 21 years old.

Funding Partners
Youth As Resources currently has funding from two sources. Youth Empowerment for Success (YES!) and Youth Impacting Community (YIC) which are both funds associated with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. Additionally, YAR has distributed funds to community partners such as USD 383, USD 378, Boy Scouts of America, and local churches, among others.
