A New Day at Pawnee
Removing barriers. Expanding access. Creating new possibilities for care.
For 70 years, Pawnee has shown up—often quietly, always faithfully. A New Day at Pawnee reflects our commitment to meet people where they are and make mental health care easier to access, faster to begin, and more responsive to real-life needs.

What A New Day Means
A New Day at Pawnee is not about buildings or numbers. It is about people.
It is about removing barriers that prevent individuals and families from getting the care they need. It is about expanding access across all 10 counties we serve. And it is about responding with compassion and urgency—because when someone reaches out for help, timing matters.
This work builds on 70 years of partnership with our communities and looks ahead to a future where support is easier to reach and care begins sooner.
A New Day in Action
Across programs and services, A New Day is already taking shape—removing barriers, expanding access, and helping more people get the care they need, when they need it.
Expanded Financial Support
-
Pawnee introduced a new hardship application to support individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing financial challenges. This allows clients to request reduced fees, set up manageable payment plans, or seek forgiveness of outstanding balances when circumstances change—ensuring finances are not a barrier to care.
Mobile Crisis Services
- Mobile Crisis now operates in all 10 counties, with 24/7 availability that began January 1. In 2025 alone, 371 community members were served—281 more than the year prior—and 84% were supported without the need for hospitalization, ambulance services, or law enforcement involvement.
Employment & Education Support
- Through Individual Placement & Support (IPS) services, Pawnee has helped more than 259 individuals secure employment or educational opportunities. The program has also built connections with 2,500 employers across the 10 counties we serve.
Same Day Access
- Since launching in 2023 and expanding countywide in 2024, Same Day Access has significantly reduced the time it takes to begin services—from months to hours. To date, Pawnee has completed more than 3,700 intakes, helping individuals access care quickly when it matters most.
Medication Assisted Treatment
- In 2025, Pawnee began offering Medication Assisted Treatment for individuals experiencing opioid addiction. MAT is a proven, evidence-based approach that supports recovery and reduces overdose risk, providing critical care close to home.
Expanded Rural Access
- By partnering with rural health departments, Pawnee expanded access to therapy and medical appointments in communities where offices are not open five days a week—offering greater flexibility and improved access for rural residents.
Listening to Our Communities
- Pawnee completed one of its first community mental health needs assessments in 2025, gathering input across all 10 counties. This data is guiding the development and improvement of programs to better meet local needs.
Community Outreach & Training
- In 2025, Pawnee participated in approximately 135 trainings, outreach events, lunch-and-learns, and community committee meetings—reaching nearly 3,000 community members and connecting individuals to services they may not have known were available.
Looking Ahead
We honor the past 70 years and the people who made this work possible. But our greatest excitement comes from what is ahead.
A New Day at Pawnee is about continuing to remove barriers, strengthen access, and ensure that when someone asks for help, the answer is closer than ever before.
70 years of care. A new day ahead.
