Pawnee Mental Health Welcomes Samantha “Sammi” Edwards as Outpatient Mental Health Therapist
Pawnee Mental Health is pleased to welcome Samantha “Sammi” Edwards, LMLP, as a new Outpatient Mental Health Therapist. Edwards joins Pawnee’s therapy services team, where she will provide individual, family, and group therapy using a compassionate, evidence-based approach to help individuals achieve their mental health goals.
In her role, Edwards will provide outpatient therapy services and collaborate with clients to develop treatment plans that promote healing, resilience, and personal growth. Her integrated clinical approach is client-centered, solution-focused, and grounded in evidence-based practices designed to meet each individual’s unique needs.
Edwards earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Emporia State University in 2020 before completing her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at Emporia State University in May 2026. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Emporia State University Teacher’s College Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award for research examining how the context of tattoos can influence jurors’ perceptions of individuals on trial.
Before joining Pawnee, Edwards built a diverse background in both healthcare and higher education. She spent five years working in pharmacy, most recently as a Pharmacy Technician at Fort Riley, where she served active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. While pursuing her graduate degree, she also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Emporia State University, teaching introductory psychology courses and psychology laboratory classes. Her work included helping students understand behavioral conditioning through hands-on laboratory experiences, including training laboratory rats to complete obstacle courses and mazes.
Edwards has a strong professional interest in trauma, dissociation, and ADHD, and has received specialized training in ADHD administration and assessment. She looks forward to continuing to expand her knowledge in these areas while helping clients navigate life’s challenges in a supportive, collaborative therapeutic environment.
“We are excited to welcome Sammi to our outpatient team,” said Dr. Rachel Cook, Mental Health Supervisor. “Her enthusiasm for helping others, strong academic background, and diverse experiences in healthcare and education make her a wonderful addition to Pawnee. We look forward to the compassionate care and fresh perspective she will bring to our clients and our organization.”
Outside of work, Edwards is an accomplished artist who enjoys crocheting, drawing, and painting. In 2014, she helped create a mural for a local bowling alley in Wichita alongside her best friend. She also enjoys exploring antique stores, thrift shopping, and discovering new local coffee shops throughout the communities she loves.
Pawnee Mental Health is proud to welcome Edwards to its team of dedicated behavioral health professionals committed to providing high-quality, compassionate mental health care for individuals and families throughout the region.
