Jonathan Sapaugh, MS
Community Engagement Coordinator
How I Help:
I support Pawnee Mental Health by working alongside communities across our 10-county service area to identify unmet mental health needs and develop practical, community-driven solutions. As Community Engagement Coordinator, I collaborate with local leaders, organizations, and residents to understand pain points, strengthen existing supports, and help establish mental health task forces in communities where none currently exist.
My role is rooted in listening, relationship-building, and problem-solving. I work to ensure that community voices are heard and that Pawnee’s services are responsive, accessible, and aligned with the real needs of the people we serve.
My Specialties:
My background is grounded in community engagement, youth advocacy, and prevention-focused work. I began working in the community in 2019 as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), serving as a voice for children in the foster care system. Through that experience, I developed a passion for speaking with youth in schools and community settings, using a combination of personal experience and knowledge of human development to help young people better understand themselves and their growth.
I am also a published author of Unlabeled: Practical Steps to Redefine Yourself and Achieve the Life You Deserve. Educationally, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Social Science and a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with a focus in Applied Family Science and Prevention Science.
More About Me:
Outside of work, I spend my time with my wife and kids—living, laughing, and loving our way through the journey of life. Before joining Pawnee Mental Health, I proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry, an experience that continues to shape my values, perspective, and commitment to service.
