Depression Screening Information

Major depression is a prevalent and disabling condition the constitutes an important public health problem in the United States. Depression is one of the most common manifestations of psychological distress in Western societies. Depression is the single most common disorder in the United States. National surveys estimate that 16-17% of U.S. adults and 11-12% of adolescents have experienced a major depressive episode at least once in their life.  

October is National Depression Screening Month, with October 7th being National Depression Screening Day. Pawnee encourages everyone to complete a depression screening during the month of October.  Untreated depression is associated with a variety of other illnesses, suicidal tendencies, and lack of productivity.
