Support the Crisis Stabilization Unit

Pawnee’s 11-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides voluntary treatment for those experiencing an acute mental health crisis. Prior to the opening of the CSU, individuals experiencing a mental health crisis would often end up in an emergency room, or jail cell, or remain untreated in their personal living environment. At the CSU individuals receive intensive therapeutic services in a warm, supportive environment and then are assisted with transitioning back into the community with continuing care as needed.

Ways to support the CSU

For many who need to utilize the CSU there is no payer source. Clients with
Medicaid are fully covered. Clients with commercial insurance may have a copay/deductible and the insurance may not cover all services. Clients with no insurance are charged on a sliding scale based on income. Expenses that a client or 3rd party payer doesn’t cover are written off by Pawnee. To ensure the viability of the CSU it is important that we find ways to reduce expenses while maintaining the high quality of care we provide to our clients.
