Medical Services
Pawnee offers medical services for children, adolescents and adults experiencing symptoms related to their emotional and mental health as well as their alcohol or drug use. Three specific services are available by appointment. All medical services are provided by an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and a collaborating psychiatrist (MD).
Medication Evaluation
When you first see your psychiatric practitioner, he or she will perform an initial medication evaluation. It includes an overview of your symptoms and collection of your medical history. A determination will then be made about whether or not medication is a viable option for treating your particular mental health disorder.
Medication Management
The medication management portion of your mental health treatment comes into play after the medication evaluation has been completed. An individualized treatment plan is developed that may include the use of prescribed medication if you choose. A medication management visit is the time where you review your goals with your mental health psychiatric nurse practitioner. Your practitioner will monitor how different medications affect you. They can recommend alternative medications if you are not responding well to a particular prescription.
Telemedicine Services
Telemedicine is the use of communication equipment to link health care practitioners and clients in different locations. This technology is used for many reasons, including reduced transportation expenses, improved patient access to APRN services and mental health providers, improved quality of care, and better communication among providers.
